Mayor's Message

Mayor of ErieThe time has come once again to CelebrateErie! This year we have another exciting lineup throughout the weekend, offering a wide variety of activity, food, entertainment, and fun.

CelebrateErie has something for everyone. On Thursday, Taste of Erie and the Artist Colony kick off the celebration in style. Taste of Erie showcases some of Erie’s best restaurants. Come down and enjoy some great music while also strolling through the Artist Colony where some of Erie’s finest artists have been invited to share their work. New to this year’s celebration is the ERIEsistible Entrée Award, which will be presented to the Taste of Erie restaurant voted to have the best dish. Ballots and ballot boxes will be located around the Taste of Erie tents. Also new this year is a multicultural celebration on 10th Street organized by the Multicultural Community Resource Center, taking place all day on Saturday.   The Kid’s Zone is packed with family-friendly games and activities as usual. Be sure to check out the Chalkwalk and the nationally known Rope Warrior, the spectacular acrobats from the Skyriders, and the dazzling basketball performers, the Harlem Wizards. Multiple stages allow us to capitalize on the abundance of local talent. The Taste of Erie Gazebo in Perry Square will host many of Erie’s favorite jazz performers. The Rocket 101 Stage on 11th Street will feature a wide range of local bands. And the Giant Eagle Main Stage will welcome rock legend Dennis DeYoung on Friday, the multi-platinum album-selling Gin Blossoms Saturday night, and country music sensation Craig Morgan on Sunday.

This celebration would not be possible without the tremendous support of our sponsors and volunteers. I would like to personally thank our sponsors as well as the many businesses and individuals who make this event such a regional attraction.

I am proud to be the Mayor of such an extraordinary community. Let’s take some time to CelebrateErie! Enjoy the weekend!
